The Outback Legal story began in 2016 when our founding Director, Daniel Bussau whose grand-uncle Sir Albert "Lou" Bussau was a renowned Australian lawyer and statesman, was convinced by a business associate to utilise his many years of commercial experience in contract law to assist challenging a default judgment (the tight timescales to challenge the default judgment prohibiting access to affordable legal services). After familiarising himself with the civil procedural rules, our founding Director utilised the Lay Rights of Audience provisions to represent his associate, successfully getting the default judgment set aside and then receiving a commendation from the District Judge for his advocacy skills when the matter was heard at a small claims trial.
Thereafter, through the power of word of mouth, further request for legal advice continued to arrive. In 2017 these requests led (following negative experiences attempting to obtain support from local solicitor firms in relation to a personal matter) to our founding Director providing professional paralegal services, through Outback Legal LLP, to businesses and individuals across East Anglia - while he simultaneously obtained his LLB (Hons) law degree. Driven by his forthright and no-nonsense approach Outback Legal developed into an innovative provider of private client paralegal services. Outback Legal Limited was incorporated in 2023 and provides clients with the added protection of knowing that our legal services and advice are assured by a £1 million professional indemnity insurance policy.
As ardent members of the Institute of Paralegals, Outback Legal are at the forefront of utilisation of modern practices and technology to reduce the cost of delivering high quality professional legal services. We actively challenge the prohibitively expense traditional solicitors' model for delivering legal services, while simultaneously ensuring that our clients can have every confidence in the legal service and advice we provide through regulation and membership of the Professional Paralegal Register.
